CPM

A continuous passive motion (CPM) machine is a motor-driven apparatus that softly moves a joint within a predetermined range of motion. It is utilized post-surgery to alleviate pain and stiffness while enhancing range of motion. CPM is most commonly used after joint surgery to promote the restoration of normal range of motion (ROM) and prevent complications due to joint stiffness. It is often recommended after knee replacement and knee cartilage repair surgery. CPM has also been reported to be used during orthopedic surgery and trauma in children to maintain range of motion in the hip and knee joints.
